- Change direction of traffic flow on Wilberforce Road and Herbert Road to discourage through traffic
Public Realm Enhancements

Current Stage & Traffic Management
Stage 1 preparatory works are underway with comprehensive measures to minimize disruption.
Preparatory works are being carried out in Station Road
We are working with Cadent Gas who are continuing gas pipeline replacement and are approaching completion.
- • The new traffic lights have been constructed in Station Road and the new footpaths completed
- • Work will continue on completing the new carriageway on Station Road and the associated footway construction
- • Temporary traffic lights will be used at the Cool Oak Lane junction where necessary
Minimizing Disruption
Comprehensive measures to reduce impact on residents and businesses during construction.
- • Advanced warnings of significant disruptions
- • Maintain access for residents and businesses wherever possible
- • Phased approach ensures minimal impact on local community
- • Temporary closures, diversions, and occasional night work as needed
Upcoming Changes
Major traffic changes and next phases of the highway works program.
The new traffic lights will be switched on and the new Station Road junction will open
Major traffic reconfiguration marking is required to achieve the new permanent junction arrangements.
- • Two way traffic will be allowed on Station Road
- • Traffic directions will be reversed on Wilberforce Road and Herbert Road
- • Perryfield Way will be permanently closed to through traffic
- • Existing traffic lights at exit of Perryfield Way (Herbert Road) will be removed
Complete the remaining highway improvement works along West Hendon Broadway
Once the traffic switch has taken place and the new Station Road junction is operational, the remaining of the planned footway and carriageway works along West Hendon Broadway (north and south of Perryfield Way) will commence.
- • A phased traffic management approach using alternating lane closures will be used to facilitate progress
- • Final carriageway resurfacing (at completion of the works) will be undertaken during night time hours to minimise disruption
