Stage 1Now

Preparatory works are being carried out in Station Road

We are working with Cadent Gas who are continuing gas pipeline replacement and are approaching completion.

• The new traffic lights have been constructed in Station Road and the new footpaths completed
• Work will continue on completing the new carriageway on Station Road and the associated footway construction
• Temporary traffic lights will be used at the Cool Oak Lane junction where necessary with the Glenpark Sports Club temporary QMS traffic management system where necessary during the temporary works

July 2025Traffic Switch

The new traffic lights will be switched on and Station Road will open

Major traffic reconfiguration marking the transition to permanent arrangements.

• Station Road opened between West Hendon Broadway and Wilberforce Road as planned
• Wilberforce Road and Herbert Road will be reversed
• Perryfield Way will be permanently closed to through traffic
• Traffic lights at Perryfield Way and Herbert Road will be removed

Stage 2July 2025 to early 2026

Complete the remaining Station Road work and improvements to West Hendon Broadway

Once the construction of the carriageway on Station Road has been completed and the traffic switch has taken place, carriageway construction will commence on the West Hendon Broadway between Cool Oak Lane and Garrick Road.

• When construction starts, we will adopt a phased approach to allow one line of traffic to pass using alternating lane closures to facilitate the progress and completion of the program
• Towards the end of the programme and on completion of carriageway construction we will carry out the final carriageway resurfacing during night time working hours to minimise disruption to traffic

We'll be getting our plans ready with some remaining jobs to be completed by the next operation of the new operating system. These will include:

• Changes to signing systems for new vehicle facilities
• Changes to the new road sections of Wilberforce Road and Herbert Road and the Code for the Permanent Stopping Up of Perryfield Way
• We will also publish the Code for the Permanent Stopping Up of Perryfield Way
