Major changes to road network from 11th July 2025

As part of the West Hendon Broadway highway project, we will be making major changes to the road layout at 11pm on Friday 11th July 2025. These changes are:

Key Changes

• Perryfield Way will be closed permanently.
• The one-way section of Station Road will become two-way.
• Herbert Road will remain one way, but the direction of traffic flow will be reversed so it runs from Wilberforce Road towards West Hendon Broadway.
• All traffic joining West Hendon Broadway from Herbert Road will be required to turn left onto West Hendon Broadway. The exception to this is that local buses will be able to turn right onto West Hendon Broadway.
• The one-way section of Wilberforce Road will be reversed so that traffic will flow from Station Road towards Herbert Street instead of towards Wilberforce Road.
• West Hendon Broadway will be re-opened to northbound traffic.
• There will be changes to the traffic lights at the West Hendon Broadway junction with Station Road, and the traffic lights at the junction of Perryfield Way, Herbert Road and West Hendon Broadway will be switched off.
• The project includes a new bus stand on the one-way section of Wilberforce Road. This bus stand will not be implemented at this stage of the project.

Community Engagement

Two public information drop-in sessions were arranged, and residents were notified by letter. The meetings took place at the West Hendon Community Hub on Perryfield Way on Thursday 19th June and Thursday 26th June, both between 4pm and 8pm.

Impact Level

This is a high impact change that will significantly affect traffic patterns in the area. Please plan your journeys accordingly and allow extra time for travel during the initial adjustment period.
